The basic idea behind massage therapy is to stimulate the blood and lymphatic systems, helping the body to release and eliminate toxins and rebalance itself.
A very beneficial therapy for aching muscles and areas of tension, massage is a perfect maintenance therapy to help keep the body fit and well. Massage encourages the body to make Oxytocin and release endorphins, helping to reduce stress and promote happiness and relaxation.

Various styles / traditions of Massage Therapy are available:

Holistic literally means looking after or taking into consideration the ‘Whole’ person; your physical, mental and emotional states. Using an organic oil, balm or cream chosen to suit your skin, traditional Swedish and specialised massage techniques help release areas of tension, leaving you feeling refreshed and relaxed. Traditional Thai Yoga Massage
This massage works on releasing blockages along the body’s system of ‘Shen’ lines, through which our energy is said to move. Pressure point and Thai massage techniques along with Hatha Yoga asanas combine to create this flowing, dynamic and meditative therapy, assisting the body in it’s natural tendency towards self-balance. Surprisingly relaxing, suitable for limber or stiff bodies and during pregnancy*. The massage takes place on a mat on the floor with no need for the client to remove clothing.

20 minutes £10
30 minutes £15
(minimum 4 people)

*Massage should be avoided during the first 3 months of pregnancy.

As with all therapies at Indigo Holistics, a consultation will be taken before the treatment to assess areas of tension and stress, to pinpoint which massage techniques will be of most value, to choose a suitable oil or cream for your skin, and to establish if there are any contra-indications to the treatment. In this way, Catherine can create a unique treatment plan with and for each client, ensuring a safe and holistic treatment.

Massage therapy can be cumultative, meaning that a course of treatments might be recommended to help fully facilitate rebalance.

"Massage – the manipulation of the soft tissue of the body – has been used as a healing therapy for many thousands of years. Records dating back to 2700 B.C. show that in China massage was used to treat paralysis, chills and fever. Hippocrates, the famous Greek physician writing in 400 B.C., recommended that physicians should treat sports and war injuries with massage and rubbing. The ancient cultures of Japan, Egypt, Rome and Arabia all considered massage to be calming, soothing and relaxing, and also very important as a healing therapy. Now, in the 21st century, there are many different kinds of massage therapies available, each of which offers specific benefits to the mind and body. Massage relieves the symptoms of stiff, tired joints, speeds up digestion and encourages improved circulation, promotes relaxation and improved sleep.
Massage of any kind should not be carried out on clients with fever, contagious or infectious diseases. Clients with any form of cancer must obtain their doctor’s permission before having any kind of massage treatment. Clients with cardiovascular disease, arthritis, epilepsy, diabetes or trapped nerves should always have a chat with their doctor first."

* Aromatherapy should never be regarded as an alternative to orthodox medical treatment, but should rather complement it. If you are receiving treatment or medication from your doctor, it may be necessary to check with your GP before having a treatment. Please make the practitioner aware of all relevant medical history, any medication you may be taking and alert her to any allergies you have. Aromatherapy and the use of Essential oils is best avoided during the first 3 months of pregnancy. The therapist cannot diagnose or treat illnesses of any kind. Essential oils should never be applied to any part of the skin unless diluted first, never be taken internally and always kept out of children's reach.
